Abstract

324,540. Krafft, F. Feb. 9, 1929. Drawing-frames; sliver-rubbing apparatus.-In a drawing-frame, the material is subjected to torsion, effected by rubbing it first in one direction and then the other, while it is being drawn by means of rotary discs 4<a>, 4<b>, Fig. 1, or of rollers 19, Fig. 6, mounted so that their axes are inclined to the axis 22 of a lower co-operating roller and driven so as to effect a drawing as well as a rubbing action. Guards 7, 8 are mounted so as to provide guides for the material so that it enters and leaves the space between the discs at the points of intersection 6<a>, 6<b> of their circumferences. The discs are covered with rubber or like material and are pressed towards each other by springs, or are mounted as shown in Fig. 3, so that the bevelled co-operating parts 17, 18 permit the weight of the upper disc to maintain them in correct operative position.
