Abstract
322,567. Macintosh & Co., Ltd., C., Maudslay, J., and Osborn, A. E. Sept. 28, 1928. Joints with yielding outer part compressed.- A flexible hose &c. pipe 2 is connected to the end of a rigid pipe or like member 8 by locating a metal ferrule 1, provided with one or more longitudinal slots 3, within the end of the flexible pipe, and constricting said ferrule around the member 8 by an external clip 6. The ferrule may be lined with rubber 5 along its slotted portion, while the member 8 is preferably provided with an enlarged end 7 at the rear of which the clip 6 is positioned. In a modification, Fig. 6, the ferrule has a supplementary part 1<a> located at the inner end thereof and provided with convolutions 1<b> adapted to engage with those of the inner metallic flex of the pipe to be connected.
