Regulating transformers. -In the voltageregulating transformers of the parent Specification, auxiliary coils or connections are provided to prevent voltage drop due to the load in the series coils f at times when the voltage is not being regulated, i.e. when neither of the flux paths I, II is being saturated by the direct current coils g. At such times, auxiliary coils t are interconnected in a closed circuit 3 so that the flux 1 of the shunt coil s produces equal and opposite voltages, and so no current, in the circuit 3 whilst the flux 2 of the coils f produces currents in the circuit 3 which equalize the flux in the paths I, II. The inter-connection is broken when either path I, II is saturated. The coils t may be connected through a coil 4 the core of which is saturated by direct current effectively to interconnect the coils t. In a modification, the coils tare omitted and the exciting coils are similarly interconnected when neither is excited.
