Manure distributers.-In a centrifugal distributer from which the fertilizer &c. is discharged through jointed tubular arms carried by a rotary element, the angle between the outer parts of the tubular arms and the ground surface is automatically determined by an adjustable cam guide and adjustable level mechanism, a constant speed of rotation being imparted to the scattering element independently of variations of the travelling speed. The scattering element consists of a cone 29 carrying fixed tubes 30 to which outer tubes 31 are pivotally connected. The fertilizer is delivered from the hopper 1 by scrapers 20 carried by a tubular shaft 15 and moving over a stationary disc 21 which is adjustable vertically to regulate the discharge. The shaft 15 is driven from a travelling wheel 3 through spur gearing 4, 5, a shaft 6, clutch 8, chain gearing 7. 10, 11, a shaft 9, and bevel gearing. The shaft 25 carrying the cone 29 is driven from the shaft 9 through spur gearing 13, 14, shaft 12, and friction gearing 23, 24, the speed being kept constant by a governor 35 controlling the position of a friction wheel 23 relatively to an adjustable friction disc 24. The outer scattering tubes 31 are connected by links 37 to pivoted levers 32 having forked ends engaging with an undulating cam ring 34 which is adjustable vertically, the arrangement being such that the tubes 31 are tilted downwards to the greatest extent at the front and rear of the machine as they move round so as to scatter the fertilizer over an elliptical area varying in shape and size according to the adjustment of the links 37 and the cam ring 34. According to the Provisional Specification the fertilizer is delivered from the hopper by radial arms on the shaft within the tubular shaft.
