Pistons. - In an aluminium alloy or like piston, having a split skirt, contraction of the skirt is limited by an undivided ring d, of a material having a coefficient of expansion equal to or less than that of the cylinder. The ring d is secured between an internal flange a<3> in the skirt and a ring e of the same material as the piston, secured by rivets e<3>. The skirt has an axial or inclined slit b and a transverse slit b<1> at the bottom of an oil groove b<2>, with drain holes c.
