Abstract

320,736. Frees, W. Sept. 21, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Materials, special, for boxes; covers. - An airtight frame or c a s e for enclosing carved works, embossed articles, documents, &c., comprises two glass plates a, b which are connected together in airtight manner around their edges, so as to enclose a space from which the air can be exhausted. The rear plate b has at its edge a flange c engaging a groove d in the front plate or cover a, the groove being wide enough to leave a channel e around the flange. The article g to be framed rests on projections f, and is held in position by ribs h on the cover or front plate. Indiarubber buffers, springs, &c. may be inserted. The plates a, b are temporarily held together by means of clamps,. and the channel e is filled with molten glass. The air is then exhausted through a passage p, which is afterwards sealed. The rear plate is formed with supporting-eyes m, and with projections n for bearing against a wall.
