Abstract

320,272. Harley, C. F. Nov. 27; 1928. Peeling oranges.- An appliance for peeloranges and the like comprises a blade 2 having a cutter 1 of channel section projecting therefrom, the cutter starting at one edge of the blade and tapering longitudinally until it merges into and becomes flat with the face of the blade. The cutter may be of U- or V-section and is preferably formed by pressing it out of the blade. The cutter edge may be set back from the edge of the blade, and the centre of the cutter edge may be curved outwardly to facilitate penetration into the peel. The end of the blade is formed with a blunt, slightly downturned point 5 which removes the peel after the cutter has removed a strip. Specification 303,726 is referred to.
