Abstract

316,667. Soc. Anon. des Appareils de Manutention et Fours Stein. Aug. 2, 1928, [Convention date]. Pulverulent-fuel and blowpipe burners. -In pulverulent or gaseous fuel burners the fuel and air are discharged whirling in opposite directions one in a diverging and one in a converging stream to meet at short distance in front of the burner. The burner is provided at its outlet end with a crown having nozzles which correspond to those of the burner body, helicoidal vanes for producing the whirling motion being situated in the nozzles in the crown. Fig. 2 shows one construction of burner in which a gyratory movement in one direction is imparted to the diverging stream of fuel issuing from the nozzle opening 2 by helical vanes 4 and a, gyratory movement in the opposite direction is imparted to the converging stream of air issuing from the nozzle 5 by helical vanes arranged in the discharge openings 6. Other constructions of burners are described in which the fuel is discharged whirling in one direction from two concentric nozzle openings and the air is discharged whirling in the opposite direction from (1) an intermediate nozzle opening, (2) an intermediate nozzle opening and a surrounding nozzle opening.
