Vices.-A metal vice having jaws 1<x>, 2<x> is provided with wooden face members 3, 4 which are adapted to be detachably secured to the jaws by grippers 5<x>, 6<x> Fig. 3, actuated by turnbuckles and by hinged U-shaped frames which are tightened against the jaws by turnbuckles. The wooden face members may have soft metal faces 25 hinged thereto.
