Cases.-A gas-lighter comprises a dry battery b in an insulating tube a surrounded by a resilient wire coil e through which the current passes, one end of the coil serving as a screw-thread to receive a metal cap g containing the ignition wire k and the lower turns of the coil being held at the bottom of the tube so that the coil is stressed and holds the battery with the pole c in contact with a bolt m. The wire k is carried by two bent metal pins i clamped by a bolt m between fibre discs l, n, in such a manner that one pin engages the cap g and the other the bolt m, the discs being secured in the cap by indentations p. The lower end of the coil e may form a suspension ring f. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the circuit is closed by pressing the ring f into contact with the pole d. In a modification, the lower turns of the coil e, Fig. 3, are secured by soldering in a sleeve q, the ring f being arranged laterally of the sleeve. The circuit is closed by pressing a resilient contact it against a pin r, secured in a fibre disc s and in contact with the pole d. The disc s is spaced from the contact u by a ring t and is secured in the sleeve g by means of indentations.
