Cans, cleaning. - A machine is adapted to clean simultaneously a number of paint cans or similar containers, by means of inserted solvents or scouring material, of both under the influence of combined rocking and rotating movements of the containers. In the duplex rocking frame, shown, the containers h rest on channel arms d carried by brackets e on a shaft l which is supported by arms m rotatably mounted on pivot pins c. The base of each container is held by a rotatably-mounted socket g and the lid is engaged by an adjustable centre point i. The frame is rocked by means of the levers m, connecting rods n, cranks o, gear wheels q, r, and a driven shaft s. The sockets g are provided with ratchet wheels w adapted to be engaged by pawls x mounted on two rods z -which are actuated, against the influence of counterweights, through the medium of levers 2 connected to chains 3. so that as the frame is rocked the containers are intermittently rotated. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 2700/89, [Class 21, Casks &c.]; 24329/93 and 21004/96.
