Abstract
313,999. Caxpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenin. dustrie Akt.-Ges.). March 21, 1928. Addition to 298,926. Ferric oxide.--In a modification of the process according to the parent Specification ferric oxide in a finely-divided form is obtained by heating ferric hydroxide in the presence of an alkalineacting agent to a temperature above 100' C., under an increased pressure. A solution of ferric salt, e.g. ferric chloride, may be heated with an excess of a basic material, e.g. lime, magnesia, or sodium carbonate in an autoclave at a temperature between 100-150‹ C., and the product filtered, washed and dried. The oxides range from yellowish-red to dark violet in colour, and exhibit a high colouring power and covering capacity. Examples are given.
