Metal blocks.-A building element of the kind comprising two side walls spaced by a longitudinally-ridged metal sheet b bent into triangular formation as shown in Fig. 1 is formed with the side walls wider. than the triangulated plate and secured thereto by means of flat or angled bars which run perpendicular to the triangular folds and may be integral with the side walls or the folded plates. Fig. 3 shows the angle bar c securing the side wall a to the triangulated plate b. The longitudinal ridges b of the triangulated plate form angularly-arranged stiffening members in their final position, and small mortar-receiving holes b<11> also may be provided. Iron bars run lengthwise through the unit to connect the members d to the bent sheet b, and may extend beyond the end of the block to secure the latter to an adjacent block. Abutting floor and wall members of this construction are secured to one another by a gusset plate. Specification 321,662 is referred to.
