Abstract

313,215. West, F. J., West, E., and West's Gas Improvement Co., Ltd. March 10, 1928. Tipping-aparatus. - The tippler comprises an L-shaped cradle b, b fitted with rollers c and turning in fixed frames a adapted for the passage of through traffic including locomotives. The rail platform h is separate from the cradle and is normally supported with rollers k<1>, k<2> at each end resting upon curved tracks on foundation blocks j. The cradle carries a motor d driving pinions f engaging toothed racks 9 on the frames a. The initial movement of the cradle counterclockwise in the frames a brings blocks (not shown) on the cradle against the rollers k<2>, and further movement tilts the wagon against spring- pressed clamps p, the uppermost of the clamps overlapping the top edge of the wagon side. The wagon now moves with the cradle, the platform h leaving the foundation blocks and resting on brackets on the cradle. An arm n carrying spring-pressed clamps o is pivoted on the platform at q. As the cradle turns, a surface s on this arm engages a cross girder t on the frame and when the arm has passed the vertical position it swings against the wagon and is retained there by its weight On return movement the arm n is withdrawn by a stirrup r on the cradle.
