Abstract

312,557. Heindorf, J. H. M. Sept. 22, 1928. Non-return valves; shocks, preventing.-A device for preventing transmission of back shocks in liquid conduits for the protection of liquid meters comprises a perforated hollow cylindrical non-return valve r, Figs. 1 and 2, within which is located an air chamber h, Fig. 1, with restricted opening thereto, so as to provide a cushioning-means adapted to yield on sudden increase of the fluid pressure and thereby prevent transmission of shock back to the supply side d. The air chamber may be replaced by a flexible hose i<1>, Fig. 2, containing air. Alternatively, it may be provided for by a flexible metallic bellows-like element, or by a corrugated diaphragm at the bottom of the casing.
