Abstract
312,216. Ellis, G. B., (Chemische Fabrik Gr³nau, Landshoff, & Meyer Akt.-Ges.). Feb. 22, 1928. Processes.-The outer surfaces of concrete articles are subjected, during moulding, to the products of decomposition of the alkaline hydrolysis of albuminous substances, including albuminoids, in order to delay the hardening of the outer layer so that it can be washed away to obtain a decorative effect by revealing the structure of the filling pieces. For example, the moulds may be coated with a solution of the alkaline salts of lysalbic or pratalbic acids. It is stated that the washing water which penetrates the main structure during the washing-off process causes a gradual final hardening of the exposed decorative surface.
