Abstract

Knock-down boxes ; corner joints battens, strengthening: lids.- A box having a collapsable or knockdown tubular body 1 formed of cardboard or other thin sheet material has reinforcing laths or straps 5 secured thereto adjacent to and parallel with the edges at the angles br corners thereof and the top and bottom of the box are formed of the thin material 6 reinforced by wooden frames 7 having the inner and outer edges chamfered as shown and secured by nails 10 to the body. The body may be made from a single sheet, the overlapping end 3 forming one of the reinforcing strips or it may be made from sheets connected at the corners by creased cardboard strips secured to the internal faces of the sheets at their edges or paper or cloth strips may be secured to both internal and external faces of the sheets. In a modification the laths or strips are arranged internally and of a length to support the bottom and top of the box; additional straps may be arranged intermediate of the corners of the box.
