Rails, metallic built-up. -In order to prevent the unbraked wheel of an axle from sliding when a scotch wheel in braking railway block is applied to the other vehicles, a second rail b is arranged on the inner side of the running rail a so as to grip the flange of the unbraked wheel, the resistance while being sufficient to ensure the rotation of the wheel not adding substantially to the running resistance. As shown, the additional rail b is fixed but it may be slidable laterally and be urged towards the running rail by springs or be adjusted by transmission means.
