Abstract

310,105. Winship, A., W. Jan, 30, 1928. Cases combined with garment-hangers; fittings, internal; partitioned cases. -A portable garment case has a clothes-supporting rod. transversely mounted at the free and of the hinged cover so that, with the cover open, dresses &c. can be arranged folded over the rod with the lower ends projecting into the body portion of the case. One form of case is shown in Fig. 1. The lid 9 and body part 8 are formed with sloping sides, the lid carrying a clothes-rod 21 supported in pivoted brackets 25, 26, which can be turned upwardly so that the rod lies entirely within the cover. The case body portion has a partition 18 forming a well 19 for the reception of the lower ends of the dresses &c. 20. Fig. 6 shows a simpler form of case having the clothes-rod 45 removably mounted in brackets 46, 47, the latter being resilient to permit removal of the rod. The division of the body portion is effected by a transverse rod 49. Fig. 8 shows the invention applied to a hatbox of ordinary rectangular construction. The clothes-rod 74 is removably mounted in sheetmetal brackets 70, 71. the base portions of which. are secured to the flat-surface of the lid. The rod projects forwardly of the edging strips 69 and lies within the body portion when the case is closed. This construction shows retaining straps 75 adapted to be hooked across the cover to keep the dresses in place.
