Abstract

309,334. Ehrlich, A. May 26, 1928. Driving-gear.-Two pins 13, 14 project in opposite directions from the side of a piston rod 11, slotted to be able to move about the shaft 3. A groove-cam disc 4 or 4<1> is mounted on the shaft and on either side of the rod 11, the pins, with interposed rollers, engaging the cam grooves 6, 6<1>. Each cam groove has two inner and two outer points 7, 7<1> or 8, 8<1> of inflexion; the distance a pin 13 or 14 travels in moving from one point, say 7, to the next 8 is equal to one stroke of the piston. The two cams are, as shown, placed: at 90<@6> one to the other. The two points 7, Fig. 1, and the two 8', Fig. 2, are equidistant from the centre, but one point 8, the upper in Fig. 1, is nearer the centre than the other by an amount equal to the compression space within the cylinder. A similar disparity exists in the positions of the points 7'.
