Abstract

Separating by passing through graduated apertures.-apparatus for grading nuts, fruits, vegetables, &c. according to size comprises an endless moving band 37, Fig. 1, inclined and moving upwardly in its upper run, a series of transversely inclined deflector plates 50<1>, 50<11>, 50<111>, the. lower edges of which are spaced above the band at successively decreasing distances, a series of receptacles 41<1>, 41<11>, 41<111> for receiving the graded products and baffle plates for ensuring the delivery of the products to the receptacles. In a modification, Fig. 2, a single deflector plate 50, with sections 39', 39", 39<111> cut away so as to provide passages of graded size is used. A plate 91 guides the charge to the section with the smallest passage and guide plates 90<1>, 90<11>, 90<111 >direct the products to their respective receptacles.
