Abstract

305,343. Wise, M. Dec. 28, 1927. Shoots; directing and adjustably supporting inverted harrow and rake endless-chain conveyers and elevators.-A storage hopper 0 is provided at one side with a discharge shoot Q and means such as a conveyer U is mounted adjustably in the hopper for lifting and conveying the material to the shoot, or the conveying means may be mounted in a fixed position and the hopper may be movable. As shown, the conveyer comprises buckets A - - H carried on an endless chain or belt or on a number of chains or belts, the buckets being in staggered positions across the width of the hopper. The frame of the conveyer is pivoted on a head-shaft M, is supported at T by a rope &c. S, and balanced by an adjustable counterweight K. In a modification, not illustrated, the rope S is attached to a lever outside the bunker - on a sleeve on the shaft M, the sleeve being connected with the frame of the conveyer and with the weight K. The rope S is wound on a drum S<1> driven through self-sustaining worm reducing- gear R from the pinion Z of the conveyer driving- gear, so that the conveyer is lowered progressively into the bunker while the material is being delivered to the shoot. The end O<1> of the hopper is curved so as to follow the path of the end of the conveyer, and a foot W on the frame of the conveyer rests upon the bottom of the hopper when the conveyer is in its lowest position.
