Abstract

Moulding indiarubber.-In the deposition of rubber from latex on heated formers, for example, in the manufacture of tubes, roller coverings, sticks, artificial silk spools, the former is heated electrically. An inner tube mandrel A of magnetic material which is passed through a vessel B containing latex, is heated by hysteresis and eddy currents induced therein by alternating currents in a fixed coil H, and an adjustable coil L. The vessel B is provided with a membrane C with an opening making a liquid-tight joint with the mandrel, and is also provided with latex inlet E and overflow F, and a coil D for the circulation of cooling medium. In a modification the mandrel, which may be helical, forms a short circuited secondary of a. transformer. Specifications 284,608; 292,964, [Class 70, Indiarubber &c.], and 301,476 are referred to.
