Abstract

Density separators.-Dust-laden gas is passed from the pipe 2 through the fan 3 and is discharged through a number of channels 4 formed between spiral walls 5, 6. The dust is thrown outwards in each channel by centrifugal force. and the end of each is provided with a wall 9 and a hinged part 9<a> for dividing the gas current. The clean gas passes over the hinged plate to the chimney 8, while the heavily laden part of the gas stream is taken under the plate 9<a>, through ducts 10 to a dust collector. The hinged plates 9<a> can be set by handles outside the chimney. If desired, water can be injected into the channels 4 through sprayers 7, and a pipe 10<a> is then provided to enable gas to pass to the chimney from the slime discharge channel. The gas channels 4 may be of different widths.
