Abstract

298,664. Dorman & Co., Ltd., W. H., and Stafford, R. L. July 13, 1927. Universal joints.-In flexible shaft couplings of the kind in which shaft flanges 1, 3 are connected by resilient longitudinal elements, such as the coned and flanged rubber studs 4 described in Specification 273,973, the flange 1 is connected to its shaft by means of a base flange 2, to which it is secured by a Vernier coupling comprising circles of holes b, c in the flanges 1, 2 respectively, differing in number by one, and a bolt 5 engageable in a registering pair thereof. In a modification, the holes b, c are disposed on larger circles, in order to avoid the absence of certain holes b where the rubber-stud holes a occur. The holes may differ in number by two, a pair of bolts 5 being then provided.
