Packeting by wrapping-up.-In a machine for packaging articles, such as cigarettes, means are provided for detecting an incomplete assemblage or insufficiently filled or short length cigarettes by operating an alarm or indicator. The cigarettes, &c., a are fed along a trough b by a pusher c past a series of feelers h, m, one for each article. The feelers are mounted on shafts f, n and are poised so that the ends make light contact, each with its corresponding cigarette. In the event of a deficiency, the corresponding finger turns about the shaft f or n and completes the electric circuit of an alarm or indicator through contacts k, i or r, s. The working parts are adjustably arranged.
