Abstract

Earth-inductor machines. - Means for indicating direction with relation to a magnetic field comprises an armature 10 of insulating material provided with a winding 11 and a two-part commutator 18 adapted to be rotated in the magnetic field, the winding 11 having an amplifying device 15, 16 connected between it and the commutator 18 and an indicating instrument 22 connected to brushes 23, 24 bearing on the commutator. The shaft 12 carrying the armature 10 and commutator 18 is rotated at high speed by a motor 27 or by a wind propeller, and may be mounted in gimbal supports. The brushes 23, 24 are mounted on an adjustable support 25. The winding 11 may be of an aluminium alloy to reduce its weight.
