Abstract

297,056. Unzeitig, R. Sept. 13, 1927, [Convention date]. Regulation, automatic.-In electric regulators of the kind in which a resistance is periodically short-circuited by one or more pairs of contacts, one contact K<1>, Fig. 2, of each pair is non- oscillating and is unyieldingly connected to a control member such as the core M of an electromagnet and the other contact K<2> is oscillated by a mechanically or electrically driven stop limiting the movement of the contact K<2> towards the contact K<1>, but not acting on the contact k<2> whilst the short-circuit is closed. The core M may be controlled by a spring g and by an electromagnet M<1> in the circuit regulated, for example, in the circuit of the armature A of a machine, the exciting circuit of which includes resistances W<1>, W<2> intermittently shorted by the contacts K<1> - - K<3>. The stop B may be oscillated by a rotating crank. The electromagnet M<1> is vertically adjustable at T to adjust its spacing from the core M initially and after wear of the contacts K<1> - - K<3>. In a modification employing a single pair of contacts and a single resistance in the exciting circuit, the stop comprises a blade spring oscillated by a rotating eccentric. In a further modification, Fig. 3, resistances w<1> - - w<4> in a lamp circuit are intermittently successively short-circuited by pairs of contacts K<1>, K<2>. The contacts K<1> are all controlled by the solenoid S and the contacts K<2> are oscillated by stops B on a bar oscillated by an electromagnet N, so that one or more pairs of contacts are opened and closed' whilst the remainder are continuously open or in contact. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), comprises also the use, as control member, of a " temperature-pressure-centrifugal relay " instead of the electromagnet M'. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
