Abstract

296,670. Aktiebolaget Separator. Sept. 3, 1927, [Convention date]. Density sepatators; cleaning drums.-Centrifugal separators used for purifying liquids such as oil, are cleaned by a wash liquid which is periodically fed into the bowl and made to flow through the part where the solid impurities are deposited. The speed of the bowl may be reduced so that: it can be increased simultaneously with the flow of the washing water, and the water may be directed through nozzles to impinge tangentially on the bowl wall. Brine may be used as washing liquid; it may be introduced through the pipe A and pass between the wings B. It then passes through the openings or nozzles C which may be directed backwards so that the liquid strikes the bowl wall almost tangentially.
