Abstract

296,305. Hoerbiger & Co. Aug. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Compound piston pumps.-The receivers associated with successive stages of a compressor are connected with each other by a differential piston valve, the faces of which are subject to the stage pressure and their areas are inversely as the ratio required between the stage pressures. The tank 4 which acts also as an intercooler, receives air from the first stage outlet valve 3 and delivers it to the second stage inlet valve 7. The tank 10 receives air from the second stages outlet valve 8, and delivers to a final receiver 11. Communication between the tanks 4, 10 takes place under control of a differential piston valve 14 having its faces in the same ratio as those of the compressor piston 1 and acted upon also by a spring 15. The inlet valve 2 is provided with a regulator 16 controlled through a valve 17 communicating with the high pressure chamber 10.
