Abstract

296,070. Associated Telephone & Telegraph Co., (Assignees of Stehlik, R. F.). March 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Divided on 287,079. Drawings to Specification. Semi-automatic exchange systems.-One wire of an automatic-manual junction is connected to battery at the outgoing end through a relay which marks the junction busy when ground is connected to the wire at the incoming end. The relay is disconnected from the junction and energized locally when the junction is taken into use. The ground connection is effected in some cases through a winding of the line relay which is unable to pull up in series with the busying relay. The line relay is initially operated over the other wire and subsequently held over both. The busying relay is operated when a fuse blows, when all the call-indicator registers but one available to the junction are busy, when the hunting switch that associates the junction with a register is in motion, when a busying key is thrown by the operator or when the relay group in which the junction terminates is being tested. The system described is identical with that described in Specification 287,079.
