Abstract

295,046. Tsuji, S. Aug. 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Roller-blinds. - To facilitate the handling of cargo in the rain, a ship is provided with waterproof covers 16, 28 which may be drawn over the hatchway and bulwarks. The hatch cover 16 is wound on a roller 14 carried in a framework 13 which rests in sockets 12 on the hatch. The cover is drawn to and fro by a motor m which drives the roller 14 and two winding drums b through reversible gearing which may comprise open and crossed belts, or a reversible motor mav be used. The framework 13 at each side of the hatch carries brackets 17 supporting waterproof covers for the spaces between the cover 16 and the sides of the hatch. The cover 28, mounted on rollers and operated in a similar way, is carried by brackets on U-shaped frames 18 movable along the bulwarks on rollers 22.
