Ast-trays. - In an ash receptacle into which ash &c. is admitted through one or more openings formed between parts that nearly overhang so that the contents of the receptacle are substantially concealed, the overhanging parts are of bent strip or blade form and constitute integral or fixed portions of a detachable cover. In one form, Fig. 1, the cover 2 is divided by radial slits 6, continued circumferentially at 7, into segments 8 which are bent at an angle to the horizontal. The rim 3 of the cover rests on the rim of the receptacle and is provided with depressions 4 to support cigarettes. In a modification, Fig. 5, inclined parallel strips 11 are provided. In another form, Fig. 8, a halfcylindrical depression 13 is provided with a slot 14 concealed by a V-shaped strip 15. Fig 10 shows a form having a V-shaped depression 17 slit at 18 the sides being bent to overlap one another; and Fig. 12 shows a form having a half-cylindrical depression slit to form two sides 19<a>, bent upwards to overlap a central strip 20 of arcuate or V section. The parts may be made of integral or separate metal stampings or of moulded material.
