Abstract
293,760. Zigarettenfabrik Lesmona Ges., and Rosenhoch, S., (known as Rosenhoch, E.). July 11, 1927, [Convention date]. Tobacco is refined and its keeping qualities are improved by brushing the rib ends of the leaves to remove insects, eggs, &c., moistening the rib ends slightly with sterilized water, leaving for several hours, separating the leaves and removing foreign matter, moistening the entire leaves, allowing the moisture to soak in for 10-16 hours, and then passing the moistened leaves by means of a conveying and mixing device through a current of ozone, the rate of feed of tobacco and the strength of the ozone current being regulated in accordance with the nicotine content of the tobacco. In the conveyer device, the tobacco is dropped from one conveyer band to another and then falls on to a shaker consisting of a plain or perforated vibrating plate.
