Abstract

293,502. Dunlop Rubber Co., Ltd., and Twiss, D. F. April 19, 1927. Indiarubber, vulcanizing, preserving; compositions containing resins &c.-Viscous liquid or semi-solid accelerators, anti-ageing agents or softeners are mixed or combined with colophony before compounding them with rubber. The substances may be combined by melting them together, or by dissolving them in a common recoverable solvent, as benzene or alcohol. The substance is formed into flakes which mill smoothly into the mix. Typical mixtures are 9 parts of rosin and 1 part of oleic acid; 3 parts of rosin and 1 part of aldol a naphthylamine; 3 parts of rosin and 1 part of crotonaldehydeaniline. Hardened rosin and substances such as zinc oxide or clay may be added to vary the consistency.
