Dye preparations.-The process of the parent Specification is modified by the incorporation of large quantities of colouring matters, for example 25 per cent or upwards by weight, in compositions made from cellulose, esters or ethers. Nitrocelluloses of low nitrogen content, and high mechanical strength are specially suitable, for the production of such highly coloured masses, which may be incorporated in faintly-coloured compositions which yield solutions of low viscosity. In an example, nitrocellulose and water, are rolled out with phthalic acid di-ethyl ester and Prussian blue; the dried mass is used for colouring a nitrocellulose lacquer.
