293,103. Hamer, J. H., and Rushton, J. L. March 29, 1927. Movable-abutmemt type; back-pressure, reducing.-A gear-wheel pump suitable for pumping the viscous solution used in the manufacture of artificial silk is lubricated by the viscous solution itself which is fed under pressure from the relief passage 24, situated in the wall of the casing at the meshing point of the gears, to a groove 29 in the bearing for the driving shaft 13 of one gear wheel 18 and to a groove 26 in a fixed spindle 16 on which the other gear wheel 17 rotates. The two lubricating grooves 26, 29 are bent back on themselves and communicate at their other ends with the discharge space 21 of the pump by grooves 25, 30 so that a continuous flow is maintained through the grooves.
