Abstract

292,866. Witkowski, L. Jan. 12, 1928. Presses, mechanical.-A balanced friction driving and reversing gear for a screw press comprises an axially-movable shaft and sleeve driven in opposite directions by the belt pulleys 5, 10 respectively. The shaft carries two friction bevel wheels 6, 7 while the sleeve carries two others 11, 12. The driven friction wheel 8 is driven in each direction by one wheel on the shaft and sleeve respectively. Thus, when the travelling nut 21 on the press screw operates one or other of the stops 19, 20, cams 13, 14 are turned to separate one or other of the pairs of wheels 12. 7 or 6, 11 thus moving both shaft and sleeve so that the wheels 6, 12 or 7, 11 form the driving pairs.
