Abstract

291,695. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Aronson, L. V.). Dec. 24, 1927. Pocket igniters, frictional. - A member 24 carrying a wick cap 25 is connected with the friction-wheel 30 by a spring-pressed pawl 40 and a ratchet wheel 39 and is secured to a pair of pinions, mounted freely on the shaft 15 of the friction-wheel and in mesh with racks 38 carried by a spring-pressed plunger 35 so that, by depressing the latter, the wick-cap is raised and the friction-wheel rotated simultaneously. The cap 25 is provided with a resilient gasket 26 adapted to fit the tapered end of the wick tube 27. A windscreen 42 is pivoted upon the ends of the shaft 15 so that it may be moved clear of the wick and is retained in the normal position by a latch 43 engaging the rim of a cover 45 secured to the top of the fuel container 10. The closure plug 48 is provided with a pin 51 for adjusting the wick and for loosening the absorbent material 20.
