Cord fastenings.-A device for securing string on parcels comprises a plate a bent at one end a<2> to U form, this end having a stamped-out tongue e. The other end has a lug bent to form a hook d, and slots are provided to form tongues b which are also bent up as shown in Fig. 3. In use, a knot i<1> is made at the end of the string i, which is laid in the bight a<2>, the knot bearing against one side of the plate which may be cut away to form a recess in which the knot rests. The string is then passed round the parcel, passed again into the bight a<2>, is then passed round the parcel at right angles to the former direction, and the end is then engaged under the tongues b and in the slots. The end may be wrapped round the neck a<3> several times, as shown. Finally, the portion a<4> of the plate is bent over so that the hook d engages the tongue e, as in Fig. 4. The plate a may extend past the hook d to form finger-pieces to facilitate bending, and a modification is described in which a fingerpiece extension is centrally placed, and two hooks d are provided, one at each side of the extension. The portion a<4> also has side flanges which give a finish to the device when finally folded. The plate may have weakening slots where bending is to occur.
