Abstract

289,574. Hansel, C. W. Feb. 8, 1927. Optical apparatus. - Philosophical apparatus and models are constructed from a selection of a number of rigid units in conjunction with -various accessories of known kinds. These units :are provided with shaped slots and adapted for assembly so as to give the necessary adjustment for the relative positions of the units or accessories after assembly. The units are described as of two kinds, viz. :-basic units and carrier units. In the basic units, such as units H, I, U, Figs. 1 and 2, the slots are provided with an enlargement at one or both ends to permit ready .attachment of other units. The carrier units, such as units D, G, S, Figs. 1 and 2, are provided with holes or slots for securing them to the basic units and with grooves, recesses or other openings to receive the accessary apparatus necessary to constitute the particular apparatus or model. A number of forms of the basic carrier units are described in the Specification, together with several examples of complete apparatus and models which may be made from them utilizing accessories such as bolts, nuts, screwed rods, clips, lenses, electric lamps, &c.
