Abstract

289,239. Rist, D. A. V. March 28, 1927. Making labels; securing.- In the manufacture of name plates, number plates, &c., with raised characters, the character a formed as a hollow stamping is secured to the plate b by one or more rivets c welded, brazed, or soldered to the character at d. The rivet has a head c<1> forming a shoulder c<2> which buts against the plate, or against an interposed washer, so as to take the strain during the riveting of the character to the plate. If the character is thick enough the rivet head may fit into a recess formed therein. In a modification, the rivet has a bifurcated shank forming a stop to take the strain of riveting.
