Abstract

288,983. I. G. rarbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. April 16, 1927, [Convention, date]. Samples furnished. Azo dyes adapted for after-treatment with metallic salts, e.g. salts of copper or chromium, are produced in substance or on the fibre by coupling with an arylide of 2 : 3-oxynaphthoic acid a diazotized aminoazo compound obtained by coupling an o-oxydiazo compound or a substitution product thereof with a substituted or unsubstituted amino, none of the components containing sulphonic or carboxylic groups. The products yield dyeings fast to washing and to chlorine, the fastness being increased by the after-treatment. In an example cotton impregnated with the 2<1>-naphthylamide of 2: 3- oxynaphthoic acid is developed with a diazo solution of the dyestuff 2-aminophenol # aminohydroquinone dimethyl ether to obtain a deep black dyeing of which the fastness is increased by the after-treatment.
