Abstract

288,386. Sachs, H. Jan. 19, 1927. Diaphragms; loud-speakers. -A sound producing or reproducing device comprises a vibratory diaphragm a of elongated shape with supports c, d for both ends but projecting beyond at least one end so that the projecting portion can be acted on by means e imparting vibration to the diaphragm. The support d is a point bearing and the other is a bearing allowing longitudinal movement of the diaphragm. The diaphragm is housed in a sound box b having two openings at opposite sides of the part of the diaphragm between the supports and the box is disposed in a double horn (Fig. 3, not shown) one opening facing forwards in the inside horn and the other opening facing the base of the outside horn. According to a modification both ends of the diaphragm are actuated by a magnetic device (Fig. 4, not shown).
