Animal traps.-A spring-actuated vermin trap of the " throw-over " type which is automatically set by pulling back the spring jaw comprises a wooden base 9 provided with staples 9<a> in which the rectangularly bent wire jaw 10, actuated by the spring 11, is mounted. A ribbon-like member 15 is mounted in a staple 14 at the rear of the trap and forms a setting lever, its forward end being formed with a projecting tongue 15<a> to engage in a slot 13<b> in a ribbonlike member 13 pivoted in a staple 12 and at its forward end acting as a bait tray. The forward end of the setting lever 15 is also formed with projections 15<b> adapted, in the set position of the trap, to engage shoulders 13<d> formed on the member 13. A light spring 16 tends to tilt the forward end of the member 13 upwards. The rear end of the setting lever 15 is cut to form three tongues 15<d>, the mid-one of which engages and holds the jaw 10 when the trap is set, the other two being engaged by the jaw 10 during the setting operation and so causing the setting lever to be tilted until it is locked by the bait member 13. In a modification the rear end of the lever 15 is twisted at right angles to its other portion and an inclined slot in the twisted part takes the place of the three tongues.
