286,674. Willson, Goggles, Inc., (Assignees of Fraser, C. E.). March 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Goggles.-Goggles comprise a pair of rigid frames 5 hinged together by a double hinge 3 and attached to a flexible cushion 6 conforming to the contour of the face, the cushion 6 being provided with a recess 10 extending completely around it at a small distance from its periphery. A slight pressure on the outside of the cushion 6 expels a portion of the contained air and thus the goggles are retained in position by the external air when the pressure is released. A strap attached to the hook 15 is also provided to secure the goggles in position. Ventilation is effected by slightly tapered tubes 17 having an inclined opening at the smaller end, attached to the upper part of the frame 5. The passage of air through these tubes 17 induces an outward flow of air through the apertures 18 past the baffles 19 so that the air is slightly exhausted from within the eyepieces. A regulating slide 25 operated by a knob 26 regulates the outflow of the air. Fresh air is supplied through smaller opening 26 at the lower part of the frame 5 and the passage of the air over the lenses prevents dimming by condensation moisture.
