286,292. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. March 4, 1927, [Convention date]. Apparatus for making filaments. - To obtain artificial silk having a uniform capacity for being dyed, a tension is applied to the incompletelyconverted thread by bending it between the spinning nozzle and the receiving device in a thread guide which is mounted resiliently so that the tension is maintained constant. The guide may be resiliently mounted by means of an elastic band or a helical spring. The tension to which the thread is subjected depends on the strength and extensibility desired in the product; a thread exhibiting even dyeing qualities is still obtained when the bending is so great as to produce a thread of high strength and low extensibility.
