Abstract

285,682. Brailsford, R. S. April 13, 1927. Coal-cutting machines.-A pick for a coal-cutting machine has a point of high quality steel secured by a metallic cement, such as that known under the registered Trade Mark " Cinch." The shank 1 has grooves 2 for securing it to the head of a rotary coal cutter and is fitted with a point 3 secured in a recess in the shank by the cement, which is preferably one which is reduced by heat so that the point can be removed. The point 3 forms a flange 5 along the faces of the working tip 4.
