Automatic exchange systems.-Single motion connectors with only one controlling magnet are set to a group under control of a marking switch and to a line directly by incoming impulses. As shown, the connector has two sets of doubleended wipers insulated from each other. The tens digit is repeated by line relay J over a front contact of release relay I to the magnet DBW of the marking switch BW. Series relay II on pulling up completes an interrupter circuit for magnet DEW of the connector, which advances until one of the wipers d reaches the marked terminal (off normal springs 75w maintaining the circuit after the relapse of series relay II), whereupon relay AI or AII operates its light armature 56a/l1 or 57a/l2 to stop the connector and an instant later its other armatures to switch over the impulse, circuit to the magnet DEW and connect up the test relay PI or PII. If the line is idle relay PI or PII, which pulls up on the relapse of the series relay, marks it busy, opens the impulsing circuit, and extends the talking circuit. Relay y pulls up when the called party answers. When both parties hang up, relays AI, PI or AII, PII fall back the marking switch is restored by means not shown, and the connector is stepped on until the springs 75w change over. In a modification in which the connector has a single set of wipers, the relays AII, PII are omitted.
