Corsets and abdominal belts. - The appliance comprises in combination a band a or the like, Figs. 1, 4, adapted to be fastened around the lower trunk of the wearer and to rest on the sacral region, a saddle or plate d of stiffening material permanently or detachably secured to the band a to support the dorsal region, and means comprising a strap or straps e detachably secured to a diaphragm c, adjustably and detachably secured to the front of the band a, and connected with the saddle d, for producing an upward and rearward pressure from the pubic arch. The form shown in Fig. 1 for female use has shoulder straps a<1>, for which a detachable brassiÞre or bodice may be substituted. Straps g on the diaphragm c are adjustably fastened to the band a, which may be stiffened by strips j and bone inserts k. A catamenial appliance l may be fitted to the rear of the garment as also may hose supports m. One or more breast supporting pads may be fixed to the inner side of the band a, and the diaphragm c may be stiffened by a plate of stiffening material inserted in a pocket or attached by loops or otherwise. The form shown in Fig. 4 is for male wear. The shoulder straps a<1> are adjustably in length and the diaphragm carries two pieces c<1>, c<2> which conform to the shape of the body. A small pad or pads p may be secured inside the diaphragm c.
